Throes of Grief; Collaborative Conversations

DYCP ACE Funded Research 2021

Throes of Grief: Collaborative Conversations is a focused period of studio-based and collaborative online research and professional development, undertaken to develop a contextual language and a grief specific rhetoric relating to the importance the presence of grief has in contemporary arts practice.

The project consisted of a series of conversations, or collaborative interventions, to discuss and explore The Throes of Grief/Grief Intervention with a peer group of artists who examine grief within their practices. Collaborators are: Holly Slingsby, Emma Douglas, Davina Kirkpatrick, Bea Denton, Moose Azim, Gemma Budden, and paula roush

The research was followed with a period of critical reflection and consolidation, where further exploration to understand the concept of grief as an intervention within my practice occurred. Mentorship was provided by artist facilitator Mary Cork, and artist Oreet Ashery
